If you’ve visited us recently, whether for one of our wonderful programs, camps, brunches, Dinners at the Lake, or were with a conference or retreat, you already know how wonderful our dining hall is. The huge stone fireplace and the many windows overlooking the lake and woods make it a special place!
But, you’ve also probably noticed the floor - the original carpeting installed when the dining hall was built in 1997 is in dire need of replacement. There is wear, fading and staining that just can’t be cleaned away. So, we’ve done our research and decided to ‘go green’ in replacing the carpet. We chose modular carpeting from InterfaceFLOR, an environmentally-responsible manufacturer whose ‘Mission Zero’ is to achieve a zero environmental footprint by 2020 in all their processes. Their recycled-content commercial carpet comes in a wide variety of random patterns (i.e., stain hiding), and is sold in squares or ‘tiles’. That way, if one area develops a problem in the future, only those affected squares need to be replaced.
The size of the dining hall puts the cost of replacing the original flooring beyond our current budget. So we are asking for your help... please consider contributing to our ‘Dining Room Floor’ campaign. One 20” x 20” carpet tile is around $2 - if everyone who visits our dining room bought just one square, we could have this project completed in no time. Or consider buying a carton of tiles for $20.
To find out more about how you can contribute, simply go to our website, give us a call or visit the campaign display in our dining hall, where you can also view the progress of the campaign.
