Why Become a Member?

The Audubon Center was created in 1968 by a wonderful bequest and has grown to become a major education and environmental organization.

Gift membership recipients will enjoy a year of exciting benefits, while helping to promote respect for nature through our programs, in addition to knowing that your gift means increased support for our efforts.

In-Kind Donations

If you have any equipment you no longer need that could help the center? If so, please contact us at audubon1@audubon-center.org or call at 1-888-404-7743. Your donations are priced at fair-market valuable and tax-deductible.

We appreciate donations of office equipment, recreational games and sports equipment, various tools and maintenance equipment are always appreciated. Our wildlife barn can always use food to feed our raptors (please call first), as well as medium sized pet carriers. Bicycles are always appreciated, as they are used by our interns and some participants as a mode of transportation around the Center's grounds.

The Audubon Center is a member of the Cars With Heart Program! Do you have a van, car, truck, snowmobile, camper, or boat you don't need anymore? Consider donating it to the Audubon Center! Through the Cars With Heart Program, your older vehicle can be worth more to you as a donation than if you traded it in! The is a great way to support the Audubon Center's education programs while get the most value out of your old vehicle. For more details, contact us: 888-404-7743 or audubon1@audubon-center.org

Memorial Donations

If you would like to make a memorial gift on behalf someone you loved and respected, the center is honored to be the recipient. There are many forms of memorials - here are some examples:

  • General memorial gifts, often announced with the obituary;
  • Send to the Audubon Center with the memorial notes
  • The person sending the memorial is sent a thank you letter from the center
  • The family for whom the memorial is made receives a notification of all gifts from the center
  • All memorials are listed in the center's printed newsletter
  • These gifts will be added to the scholarship funds at the center that are managed by the Minnesota Foundation and earnings from the accumulated revenue is used for scholarships.
  • All gifts are tax deductible.
  • Memorials over $5,000 will result in one of the dorm rooms being named in that persons honor
Art work, benches, and other permanent structures can be accepted as memorials if they fit the center's design and plans and must be approved in advance.

Scholarship Donations

  • Smaller donations to the existing center scholarship funds are accepted at any time and should be designated for that purpose by the donor.
  • Separate scholarships funds in a person, family, or business name can be established with gifts of $10,000 or more
  • These funds will be held and managed by the Minnesota Foundation for the Audubon Center
  • All gifts are tax deductible
  • Proceeds are based on the value of the fund and are equal to 5% of the fund balance. Any excess earnings are reinvested in the fund to grow the balance

For information and details regarding bequests or life income giving options, please contact the Center. The Center works with the Minnesota Community Foundation for these options.
