The Monarch Butterfly ~ Conservation of a Beloved Insect 

with Katie-Lyn Bunney of the University of Minnesota Monarch Lab

After a wonderful banquet dinner, Katie-Lyn Bunney , Program Coordinator – Monarchs in the Classroom at the U of MN Monarch Lab, will talk about the Monarch butterfly. Learn more about the complex biology and natural history of these beautiful butterflies, from identifying instars to following their migration patterns, and learn about current research, monitoring and conservation efforts.

Appetizers start at 6:00 p.m.; presentation following dinner

Dinner at the Lake meal and presentation:

Monarch

Katie-Lyn BunneyKatie-Lyn Bunney graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2008 with a degree in Environmental Sciences Policy and Management. Since then, she has worked as an informal educator at the Bell Museum of Natural History, nature centers, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Dakota County Parks, and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory where she was also the Camp Director. She served two terms on the board for the Minnesota Association for Environmental Education, a volunteer-run organization for promoting and advocating for environmental education in Minnesota. Katie-Lyn enjoys the opportunities the Monarch Lab has to work with so many people devoted to and interested in promoting conservation and education. She loves having such an integral role in providing them with the tools and skills they are seeking. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, reading and knitting.
